Even though it has a lot of powerful functionality to offer, PaintShop Pro remains user friendly. Novices and experienced users alike will be able to easily access the photo editing functionality of this application to come up with something amazing. Once you’re done, you can share your edited image on Facebook, Google+ and more.

Here are the system requirements for running PaintShop Pro on a PC powered by Windows 8, 7, Vista, or XP: multi-core processor (Intel Pentium 4, AMD Athlon 64, or something newer), 2GB or RAM memory or more, 2GB of free disk space or more, graphics card capable of 1024 x 768 resolution, Direct X9 or newer, internet connection. The setup process is a standard one: download an executable, run it, click through the setup wizard. Please note that the setup wizard will ask to install the Google Toolbar for Internet Explorer; you can either opt out if you’re not a fan of toolbars or you can uninstall it later.

At the top of the dark-themed interface there are three tabs: Manage (use it to locate an image you want to edit, to manage your collection, and to view image info), Adjust (adjust an image’s colors, apply an effect, crop the image, and more), and Edit (access various photo editing tools). To help you out, the application displays a Learning Center panel in the right hand side – it provides info on how to import photos, make quick adjustments, add artistic effects, and more.

Using PaintShop Pro is a simple 3-step process:
Step 1 – select the image you want to edit. It must be mentioned here that the application provides support for a very long list of image formats, including RAW, BMP, KPG, PSP, and PCX.
Step 2 – edit the image you selected. There are numerous editing functions that you can easily access from the user friendly interface: adjust colors, crop, straighten, remove red eyes, fix blemishes, apply an instant effect, add text, draw, add layers, and more.
Step 3 – save the photo you edited, print it out, or share it with others via Facebook, Flickr or Google+.

PaintShop Pro is not free, it is only free to try for 30 days. It must be added that there’s also a PaintShop Pro Ultimate edition.

With PaintShop Pro, you can efficiently organize your collection of photos and you can easily access a lot of photo editing functionality.

Pros

Getting PaintShop Pro up and running on a Windows-powered machine is a simple process. The dark-themed interface is good looking and easy to use. You can easily access the powerful photo editing functionality PaintShop Pro has to offer.

Cons

Free to use for a 30-day trial; nag screen. Offers to install a toolbar.
